- Summary
- The Phillip Institute of Technology began operating in January 1982 following the amalgamation of the State College of Victoria at Coburg and the Preston Institute of Technology (Carroll, 1995, p. 1). On 1 July 1992 the Phillip Institute of Technology merged with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), and together they officially became a university (State Government of Victoria, 2008, p. 1).
