In 1973, the Coburg Teachers' College became the State College of Victoria at Coburg and was admitted as a constituent member of the State College of Victoria (State College of Victoria at Coburg, 1977, p. 3; Public Record Office Victoria, undated). The college amalgamated with the Preston Institute of Technology to form the Phillip Institute of Technology, which opened in January 1982 (Carroll, 1995, p. 1).
