The Melbourne Printing Trades School was renamed the Melbourne School of Printing and Graphic Arts in July 1950 (Eckersall, 1980, p. 168).

Details

The composing and letterpress departments from the Melbourne Technical College were transferred to the Melbourne School of Printing and Graphic Arts in 1956 following the completion of the school's new two-storey building (Eckersall, 1980, p. 170). A further three floors of workshops and classrooms were added in 1966 (A9905679, 1985, p. 3, RMIT University Archives).

In 1971, the Melbourne School of Printing and Graphic Arts received college status and became the Melbourne College of Printing and Graphic Arts (A9905679, 1985, p. 3, RMIT University Archives).
