J. H. Lodge was the inaugural principal of the Melbourne Printing Trades School. He arrived in Melbourne to take up the position in May 1949 (Eckersall, 1980, p. 168). Lodge held this position until his retirement in May 1970 (A9905679, 1985, p. 4, RMIT University Archives).
