- Summary
The Melbourne College of Textiles was renamed the Melbourne Institute of Textiles in September 1995. At the same time, the Institute and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) 'enter[ed] an alliance to jointly deliver degree courses in textile technology' (Anderson, 1998, p. 68). On 1 January 1999, the Melbourne Institute of Textiles merged with RMIT (State Government of Victoria, 24 December 1998).
