- Summary
The Melbourne School of Textiles was renamed the Melbourne College of Textiles in 1970 (SER-10701, 1982, p. 6, RMIT University Archives). In September 1995, the college was renamed the Melbourne Institute of Textiles. At the same time, the Institute and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) 'enter[ed] an alliance to jointly deliver degree courses in textile technology' (Anderson, 1998, p. 68).
