Summary

The Melbourne Junior Technical School was opened on 12 February 1912. The school was under the direct control of the Education Department and the first principal was Mr P. McCormick (Weekly Times, 13 January 1912, p. 35). In 1920, the Melbourne Junior Technical School was renamed the West Melbourne Technical School (SER-03971, 23 February 1920 and 22 March 1920, RMIT University Archives; Herald, 27 March 1920, p. 8).
