Summary

The School of Painting, Decorating and Sign Crafts was renamed the Melbourne College of Decoration in 1976 (Victoria University Archives, 2023). On 1 January 1993 the Melbourne College of Decoration's Departments of Interior Design and Visual Merchandising transferred to the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). At the same time, the college's painting, decorating and signwriting programs were transferred to the Western Metropolitan College of TAFE (S07007431, 14 October 1992, RMIT University Archives; Victoria University Archives, 2023).
