Dr Jane Stocks Greig was an early medical student in Melbourne. She graduated with honours in 1895 and was the first woman to be awarded the Diploma of Public Health in 1909 at the University of Melbourne (Docherty, 1981, p. 31; Herald, 18 September 1939, p. 11). Dr Greig was a foundation member of the College of Domestic Economy Council in 1912, and president of the Council from 1917 to 1919 (Docherty, 1981, pp. 30 and 298).
