Summary

The foundation stone for the Casey Building (also referred to as the Casey Wing) was laid in July 1967 by Prime Minister Harold Holt. The building was named after the Governor-General, Lord Casey, who had been made an honorary fellow of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in June of the same year. The building was opened in 1969 (Edquist and Grierson, 2008, p. 66). Building 10 is almost identical to Buildings 12 and 14, which were completed by 1976 (RMIT University, undated; Edquist and Grierson, 2008, p. 66).
