On 14 October 1937 the R. B. McComas Wool School was named in honour of Robert Bond McComas, director of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and owner of the wool-broking firm Wm Haughton and Company (ER-09908, 27 September 1937, p. 1831, RMIT University Archives; Murray-Smith and Dare, 1987, p. 188). McComas had offered a pound for pound donation for the erection of an additional story on the Wool School building (Murray-Smith and Dare, 1987, p. 188).
