On 23 July 1931 the Kernot School of Engineering was opened. The school was named in honour of William Charles Kernot and his brother Wilfrid Noyce (Murray-Smith and Dare, 1987, p. 191; Age, 24 July 1931, p. 9). The school was declared open by the Minister of Education, John Lemmon (Age, 24 July 1931, p. 9).
