Summary

Donald Clark was the first Chief Inspector of Technical Education, appointed to the position in 1911 (Murray-Smith and Dare, 1987, p. 88; Murray-Smith, 2006). Clark wrote three booklets on technical education: Reminiscences of Technical Education in Victoria (1923), The Future of Technical and Industrial Training in Australia (1927) and Some Notes on the Development of Technical Instruction in Victoria (1929). He retired in 1930. During his career, Clark was a strong advocate for aligning junior technical schools with higher technical education (Murray-Smith, 2006).
