Leslie James Wilmoth was the first person to hold a diploma from the Working Men's College, graduating in metallurgy in 1903 (Murray-Smith and Dare, 1987, p. 55; Age, 30 June 1903, p. 7). The diploma was awarded in connection with the Metropolitan School of Mines (Argus, 22 February 1902, p. 13).
