- Summary
George Baxter Pritchard was appointed instructor in geology at the Working Men's College in 1892. Later, he was also appointed instructor in mineralogy. In 1898 he became the head of the College's Department of Mining and Metallurgy, retiring from this position in 1934 (Murray-Smith and Dare, 1987, p. 475; Ellis, Frank, 'Principal's Monthly Report' in Melbourne Technical College Minutes, 17 December 1934, p. 1495).
