Summary

Charles Stuart Paterson was President of the Working Men's College in 1902 and joint treasurer at various times from 1890 until his death in 1917 (Murray-Smith and Dare, 1987, pp. 468 and 471). Paterson was the founder of Paterson Bros., a well-known decorators. According to the Argus, Paterson still held his seat on the Working Men's College Council at the time of his death, and was the last member of the original council (Argus, 16 April 1917, p. 6).
