Zahava Elenberg completed a Bachelor of Architecture with Honours at RMIT University (RMIT University, 2004). Initially, Elenberg had not been offered a place at RMIT, however, after sneaking into the architecture classes anyway and begging the enrolment officer, she was eventually offered a place. Before graduating university, Elenberg established her own practice with fellow student Callum Fraser. In 2003 Elenberg was named Telstra Young Business Woman of the Year and, in 2005, she won the Ernst & Young's Southern Region Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Smethurst, 2020).
