- Summary
Robert Ingpen studied art and illustration at the Royal Melbourne Technical College, receiving his Diploma of Art (Graphic Arts) in 1957. Ingpen also holds a Doctor of Arts honoris causa from RMIT University. Ingpen is known for his contribution to children's literature, his work with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and his design of the flag and coat of arms for the Northern Territory, amongst many other achievements. In 1986, Ingpen was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Medal for Illustration (RMIT University, 2007).
