Frank Ellis MBE was the principal of Working Men's College Melbourne (Melbourne Technical College from 1934) from 1927 to 1952. Prior to his appointment to the Working Men's College, Ellis was Superintendent of Technical Education in Tasmania for nine years (Murray-Smith and Dare, 1987, pp. 181 and 472).
